The Saturday Academy for African American Boys is a nine-week long academic program sponsored by Visionary Leaders Institute. It is open to African American boys in grades 8 and 9.

The academy will be located at 5350 E. Livingston Avenue – second floor (43232) in Columbus. Students’ families are responsible for transporting them to and from the academy.  However, there is a COTA bus stop directly in front of the academy.

The academy is FREE to all students accepted. Each student will earn a stipend of $100.00 at the end of the program (provided they meet all academic and behavioral requirements). 

Students must attend every Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for nine weeks (We provide snacks).  Classes will focus on math, science, and computer literacy.

Students are required to read a book each week and prepare a written book report. Students will receive additional stipends for reading additional books!

To be accepted into the academy, students must possess at least a 2.5 GPA. We will contact your child’s guidance counselor to verify his grade point average.
